Rival Fitness Finds Peace of Mind with Mindbody Insurance
Since opening its doors in 2014, Rival Fitness has become a cornerstone of the Clarksburg, WV fitness community. We chatted with Whitney Lambert, owner of Rival Fitness, about her time building a space for fitness enthusiasts and the obstacles she's overcome to keep her business running smoothly. Starting with a few group fitness classes, Whitney's vision for Rival Fitness has expanded over the years to include five rooms, open gym memberships, and fitness options for people of all ages.

With more growth came an unforeseen challenge
As Rival Fitness expanded, so did its range of offerings. Being a Mindbody customer since its opening in 2017, the studio added five dedicated rooms and introduced various services and fitness modalities, such as open gym memberships, spin classes, combat training, weightlifting, yoga, and martial arts. But with this growth came an unexpected challenge: finding insurance coverage.
After martial arts became a staple offering, Whitney's existing insurance provider dropped coverage due to the perceived risk of martial arts. She struggled to find a new provider willing to take on her studio as insurance companies hesitated to insure a business with such high-contact sports. "When I would get quotes on other policies, as soon as I asked if they covered martial arts, they turned me away," said Whitney. This left Rival Fitness without insurance for a short period, a nerve-wracking experience for Whitney, who wanted assurance her business was protected.
When other insurers said no, Mindbody said yes
After several denials from various insurance companies, Rival Fitness finally hit a break when Whitney received an email introducing Mindbody's new insurance offering. Thanks to her familiarity and longstanding relationship with Mindbody, she immediately jumped at the opportunity and filled out the form to learn more. From there, the process was fast and convenient as she answered a few simple questions before speaking with a Mindbody Insurance Representative.
Out of the options available, Whitney chose the one that best suited her business needs. Within 24 hours, Rival Fitness was insured once again. "The application process was done within minutes. It was the easiest and most convenient route since I already have Mindbody. If something is hard for me to get, I won't keep pursuing it. With Mindbody, it was easy! Done. Stress gone," said Whitney.
More time for clients, less stress about coverage
Now that the struggle to secure insurance coverage is behind her, Whitney is relieved. "You never know when you might need coverage, and having it makes me feel more secure. I appreciate that everything is consolidated in one place. I've been using Mindbody since we opened, so it's convenient to have everything I need in one location. It's also comforting to know that I'm covered by a company that understands the fitness industry. Other insurance companies aren't in that field; they don't know what we're doing," she said.
