5 Automated Campaigns That Will Work for Your Fitness Business

When it comes to marketing, finding ways to automate is the key to taking your fitness business from bogged down and ineffective to efficient and profitable. How? With email and text automation that's set up once and automatically sent to customers on your behalf.

With an easy-to-use automated email marketing platform, you’ll avoid constantly creating and sending one-off emails and text messages to your subscribers and, instead, target specific customers at exactly the right time, without any ongoing effort on your part.

Ready to automate communication at your fitness business? Make sure these five automated email marketing and text campaigns are set up:

1. Welcome email

An automated “Welcome to Our Studio” email campaign can set the tone for a long-term relationship with your new client. This is your opportunity to highlight your offering and schedule, answer any questions they may have, and ensure they feel welcomed into your fitness community. However, just because it's automated doesn't mean it shouldn’t be customized; personalise your welcome email so subscribers get to know your brand’s voice.

Pro Tip: Provide a link to the FAQ page on your website. Also, be sure to remind subscribers of any specifics they’ll want to know, i.e., pre-workout nutrition, arrival time, if they need to bring a towel or mat, parking specifics, etc.

2. Intro offer email and text

With a drip campaign, an email automation that sends a series of messages on a pre-set schedule, you’ll be able to nurture subscribers right away. Smart lists, created and automatically updated with data from your fitness software, can segment customers and automatically send a series of automated text and email campaigns to your new subscriber exactly when you want. To nurture intro offer customers, create a drip campaign that targets that specific service category. Through this email automation, provide valuable information and/or exclusive offers to seamlessly transition customers from prospects to members.

Pro Tip: At the start of their introductory period, incentivize customers to commit and attend a set number of workouts. For example, receive a free t-shirt if you attend at least six classes during your introductory month.

3. Upsell to membership email and text

Looking to increase the number of members at your gym or studio? Here’s how to do it with automated text and email campaigns; create an upsell offer, target customers who aren’t currently on a membership, and hit save. Voila! Your automated marketing provider will take care of the rest, sending out automated upsell emails and text messages to your drop-in and package customers, therefore increasing memberships and recurring revenue.

Pro Tip: Include any member benefits you offer in your upsell email automation. Do members receive a discount on apparel? Priority scheduling? Guest passes? Make sure you clearly highlight all of the perks.

4. Rescue lost customers email

You haven’t seen these customers in a while but that doesn’t mean they won’t come back—especially with the right win-back email! This automated campaign automatically identifies subscribers that aren’t likely to book again and sends a highly targeted offer to get them back in your doors. All you have to do is provide the offer and welcome them back with open arms.

Pro Tip: Once you’ve won back a previous customer, keep them engaged by setting up additional drip campaigns to reinforce the value of your services, long-term. Make sure you keep them motivated inside your studio or gym as well—here are 34 creative ideas to consider.

5. “Thank you” text

A simple and automated “thank you” text, at just the right time, is an additional touch-point that can make all the difference and keep your business top of mind for subscribers.

Pro Tip: Take it one step further by asking subscribers to provide feedback by leaving an online review, which can also be set-up in your automation software.
