Data-Driven Success: Elevate Sports Performance’s Journey with Analytics 2.0
Elevate Sports Performance, co-owned by Kathleen "Kat" Scharf and Brian Chandler, is a fitness and healthcare business with locations in Henderson, NV, and Las Vegas, NV. Founded in 2020, Elevate offers an extensive range of services, including personal training, chiropractic and physical therapy, post-op recovery programs, sports performance coaching, massage therapy, and nutrition coaching.
One-on-one training sessions account for 40% of their revenue, so understanding business performance and tracking trends is crucial for sustained growth. Before adopting Mindbody’s Analytics 2.0 to streamline their reporting, Scharf relied on manual spreadsheets, a process that was inefficient and time-consuming. Since transitioning to Analytics 2.0, Elevate has transformed its data tracking and decision-making processes. This has allowed them to pinpoint where to shift their focus between locations and strategically allocate resources for staff training and marketing efforts.
A visual approach to business performance
Before using Analytics 2.0, Scharf toggled between multiple reports and spreadsheets to get a comprehensive view of Elevate’s financial health. She often had to export data and manipulate it manually to uncover trends and insights. With Analytics 2.0, that workflow has been streamlined into a single, intuitive dashboard. “Analytics 2.0 is a lot more than reports,” said Scharf. With Analytics 2.0, she can now get a more visual presentation of their business performance.
The ability to view a summarized snapshot of key business metrics, along with easy-to-read graphs, has made it simpler for Scharf to analyze performance and communicate insights with her team.
Identifying trends and improving decision making
Analytics 2.0 has empowered Elevate with improved visibility into performance and insights for data-driven decisions. Having quick and easy access to the right insights is essential for Scharf. "With Analytics 2.0, everything is just one click away. I primarily use the Overview tab, but I also explore the Sales tab," she explained. "I appreciate all the data; I don't think there's ever too much data."
The new dashboard gives Scharf a comprehensive overview as she explores key metrics, such as Sales by Revenue Category to identify both top-performing and underperforming categories, as well as Total Visits to monitor client activity year-over-year or month-over-month. These insights have made it easier than ever to uncover and understand trends across both locations. "I like the visual display. I like how it’s summarized at the top. You can dig deeper if you need to, the breakouts are very self-explanatory," shared Scharf.
“If I see we're down in a particular service category, I can immediately investigate why," Scharf said. When Analytics 2.0 helped Scharf spot stagnation in their large group training programs, she saw an opportunity to increase attendance by initiating an internal push with her trainers and running a new marketing promotion.
Saving time and enhancing efficiency
Analytics 2.0 represents a significant upgrade from Scharf's previous method of manipulating data and creating spreadsheets. She can now explore data and insights for both locations on a single screen, saving her valuable time while providing clearer visibility into business performance. “I’ve never thought, ‘Oh, I wish I could see this.’ Everything I need is right there,” said Scharf. The ability to quickly spot trends has also improved operational focus.
With real-time data available at her fingertips, she can monitor capacity, review coaching sessions, and train her team more effectively. For example, if there is a drop in numbers, head coaches can examine the sessions to determine whether the issue is related to rebooking or coaching. This allows them to focus their efforts on the right areas. Most importantly, she feels confident in the data, “I don’t have to export reports anymore. I can configure everything within Analytics; dates, locations, and products.”
An elevated level of confidence
For Scharf, the greatest impact of Analytics 2.0 has been the confidence it provides in making business decisions. Tracking and analyzing business performance is simpler and faster than ever. “I feel like I’m getting more done because everything is easier to navigate. I don’t have to remember which report to use–everything is clearly laid out and much more centralized,” she explained.
Analytics 2.0 has also made it easier for Scharf to train her business partner and staff on tracking KPIs, “I used to have to explain every report and how to find what we needed. Now, I’m training my business partner to use Analytics 2.0 himself, and he’s grasped it quickly. I don’t have to hold his hand because it’s that intuitive.”
Analytics 2.0 has become an indispensable tool for Elevate Sports Performance, which is why Scharf highly recommends it to other business owners, especially those tracking KPIs, as it provides easy access to critical insights–minus the complexities of regular reporting.
